Mill and Warehouses in Rascafría

Solid Scots pine wood

The timber extracted after felling is prepared at the sawmill in Rascafría. The Scots pine is the main forest resource of el Pinar de la Belgas which, together with the ones of Valsaín, is considered as the finest of this species on the Iberian Peninsula due to its straight trunks and premium-quality timber. It is also known, that the woods of El Paular are highly appreciated by builders, carpenters, cabinetmakers and craftsmen in the Sierra de Guadarrama region.

CONSUMING WOOD
means INVESTING IN WOODLAND

El Pinar de los Belgas is a constantly regenerating natural ecosystem. Tree-felling makes it possible to clear away mature pine trees whose life cycle has ended. When the wood is extracted, new spaces are opened, allowing the light in and support the forest to regenerate.

Woodland that is regenerated performs its ecological functions better. Its vegetation layer is responsible for curb erosion, regulates the water cycle, absorbs and fixes carbon from the atmosphere and protects biodiversity.

This sustainable management model also delivers major socio-economic benefits, it generates employment in local towns and cities, it is the best way of preventing forest fires and also helps to curb climate change.

This is why the sawmill is now a reference supplier in the region. The Sociedad Belga promotes the awareness of local consumption, realizing that it is one of the keys to the subsistence of the pine forest. Moreover, we strive to open up new markets thanks to the excellent properties of the woods of el Paular.

Wood is a living material

A material for the future

Wood is natural, renewable, recyclable and reusable. It is flexible, versatile and is a living material capable of picking up or transmitting moisture and of regulating temperature in the environments where it is located.

During its transformation, it consumes far less energy than any other material, and its technological and aesthetic qualities have made it the perfect ally in efficient and sustainable constructions.

A space designed in wood is organic, clean, beautiful and comfortable.
